Doctors Concerned About the Illegal Use
of Adderall
Press Release July, 2011
A dangerous drug amongst today's college students, "study
buddy", "the smart drug" or better known
as Adderall has become a dangerous trend on college campuses
across the nation.
Many students have admitted to using Aderall, Ritalin
and other drugs used to treat ADHD, in order to optimize
their studying during examination periods throughout the
school year. Many of these young students later find themselves
unable to study and incapable of carrying out daily tasks
without the use of these highly addictive drugs which
they have become addicted to.
Dr. Glen Hanson of the University of Utah's college of
pharmacy warned that Adderall is just as addictive as
methamphetamines and that the abuse of Adderall and similar
drugs had detrimental effects on the brain which often
lead to psychiatric disorders such as paranoia and schizophrenia
in the long run.
So often, the immediate side effects of using such drugs
fail to present themselves in early stages and individuals
are encouraged to continue on with their addictions, unaware
of its potentially irreversible physical and psychological
effects.
